J\u00e4nner 2025 hat IBM das Lizenzprodukt\u00a0<strong>5770-BR1<\/strong>\u00a0(Backup, Recovery and Media Services for i) offiziell eingestellt. Die bisherige Abdeckung \u00fcber die IBM i Hersteller-Softwarewartung entf\u00e4llt damit. Stattdessen setzt IBM auf ein neues Modell:\u00a0<strong>5770-BR2<\/strong>, erh\u00e4ltlich ausschlie\u00dflich im\u00a0<strong>Subscription-Modell<\/strong>.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Warum die Umstellung?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Die Umstellung auf 5770-BR2 ist nicht nur eine technische Weiterentwicklung, sondern auch eine Folge organisatorischer Ver\u00e4nderungen: IBM hat die\u00a0Softwareentwicklung f\u00fcr BRMS an Fortra ausgelagert, w\u00e4hrend der Vertrieb weiterhin \u00fcber IBM erfolgt. Damit einher geht auch die Einf\u00fchrung eines neuen\u00a0Subscription-Modells\u00a0\u2013 BRMS ist k\u00fcnftig nicht mehr \u00fcber die regul\u00e4re IBM i Softwarewartung abgedeckt, sondern muss separat lizenziert werden. Diese \u00c4nderung betrifft alle IBM i Kunden, die BRMS zur Sicherung Ihrer Daten auf eine externe Tape Library einsetzen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Was ist neu im Produkt?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Mit der neuen Version&nbsp;5770-BR2&nbsp;vereinfacht IBM die Nutzung von BRMS deutlich. Statt wie bisher mehrere Lizenzoptionen f\u00fcr unterschiedliche Funktionsbereiche zu ben\u00f6tigen, sind nun&nbsp;alle Features \u2013 Basis, Erweiterungen und Netzwerkfunktionen \u2013 in einem einzigen Produkt enthalten. Das erleichtert nicht nur die Lizenzierung, sondern auch die Verwaltung.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ein weiteres Highlight ist die&nbsp;neue Web-Oberfl\u00e4che mit intuitiver Bedienung und verbesserter grafischer Darstellung. Technisch bleibt die Struktur \u00e4hnlich, was die Migration erleichtert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Warum ist das wichtig?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Mit 30.09.2025 endet der volle Support f\u00fcr 5770-BR1. Das bedeutet konkret:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Nur noch bekannte und bereits gemeldete Fehler<\/strong>\u00a0werden von IBM bearbeitet.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Neue Fehler oder Anfragen k\u00f6nnen nur noch bearbeitet werden, wenn eine g\u00fcltige 5770-BR2 Subscription vorliegt.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Die IBM i Version V7R6 wird nur noch 5770-BR2 unterst\u00fctzen. Falls ja, sollten Sie jetzt aktiv werden.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Haben Sie seit 1.1.2025 BRMS gekauft? \u00dcberpr\u00fcfen Sie, ob Sie schon im neuen Subscription-Modell sind oder noch eine non-expiring LPP (Licenced Program Product) haben.
